Archerfield Wetlands Shared Path wins Category 2 at the CCF QLD 2022 Earth Awards

We are thrilled to announce that the Archerfield Wetlands Shared Path project for the Brisbane Sustainability Agency won Category 2 at the Civil Contractors Federation (QLD), 2022 Earth Awards held at the Sofitel Brisbane on Friday evening.

The Archerfield Wetlands Shared Path is one of six priority projects identified in the Oxley Creek Transformation Master Plan. Once an industrial precinct, a site for wastewater treatment and waste disposal, and a source of pollution for Oxley Creek, Archerfield Wetlands is being rehabilitated into an environmental asset and a recreational destination.

The 3km long path runs between Gleneagles Crescent, Oxley, and Bowhill Road, Durack and was constructed with a combination of gravel and broom finished concrete, included are four culvert waterway crossings. A short 450m, walking trail accessed from the shared path, provides access along the edge of the wetlands to an open water viewing and picnic area known as the Wetlands Lookout.

Mark Bruzzone, CEO said “It is fantastic to see the to be Archerfield Wetlands Shared Path Project recognised as a winner at the CCF QLD Earth Awards. Despite significant challenges caused by recurrent wet weather, we were able to deliver the project for our client on time and within budget. The project has created a tranquil environmental nature walk that the community can enjoy for many years”.
